Easy Summer Hairstyles

With summer just around the corner, I wanted to share some easy hairstyles that will help you keep your hair up and out of your face! For these hairstyles, I used my NuMe straightener and curler to get the wavy curls! To shop the products I used in my hair, check out the links below!

For the month of June, I will be posting new hair photos every day on Instagram! Follow me on Instagram to see more hair inspiration!

Easy Summer Hairstyles

1. Messy Ponytail

I love messy ponytails in the summer! It is one of the easiest hairstyles and there are so many ways to make it look casual or more formal! I decided to show a more casual ponytail with a little section from the ponytail wrapped around the base to cover up the ponytail! I also teased the ponytail with my fingers! To see a picture tutorial on this, check out my Instagram!

2. Fishtail Braid

Braids are my favorite way to keep my hair up during the summer! For this fishtail braid, I did two little fishtail braids with a middle part, and then the rest of the hair also put into a regular fishtail braid! Don’t forget to pull the braid apart a little to make it look more voluminous. You can also use Volumizing powder to do this!

3. Braided Bun

For this style, I put my hair into a dutch braid and the rest of the hair into a bun! It’s a super simple hairstyle that can be worn with a lot of different outfits!

4. Two Mini Braids into Ponytail

The last hairstyle is a great way to keep your bangs out of your face! I braided small sections from the front of my hair into a regular 3-strand braid and then put the rest of the hair into a ponytail! It’s a really easy way to style your hair during the summer!

Fall and Winter Lip Colors and Swatches

My favorite time of the year is upon us! I love the Fall and Winter time because you can’t be judged for wearing a sweatshirt or sweaters. And the “I’m always cold” person in me is very excited about that! This is also my favorite time of the year because of all of the Lip Colors we get to wear! I mean honestly, I am the type of person that wears burgundy during the spring and summer too, but again I can’t be judged for it because everyone is doing it. To purchase any of the products mentioned, check down below for links!Fall and Winter Lip Colors

I have written a post like this last year, which I will link below! It was really successful and it did really well on Pinterest so I thought I would write an updated version with new lip colors! Like the previous lip colors post, I will also include swatches in this post!

Like I said, I love burgundy vampy lips, and I recently got Hangry by Tarte Cosmetics and I love the color! It is a really pretty burgundy with more red undertones! The brand had a whole range of lip colors and they just came out with so many new colors! I would definitely check them out if you are looking for some new lip colors. They’re really popular for their 90s grunge line!

I just recently started using Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks. I love the color Trust Issues, it reminds me a lot of Jeffree Star Androgyny but a little darker. I will say that the Anastasia Matte Liquid Lipstick line formula is very drying. I always use a lip mask underneath to make sure my lips stay hydrated.

Huda Beauty, a well-known beauty blogger turned into a business woman, has created her empire. With the launch of her new liquid lipsticks, her false lashes, and just recently an eyeshadow palette, she has created a brand that is sought after and often sold out. But I have used a lot of her products and I can say they are worth it. The liquid lipstick shade in Trophy Wife is so beautiful and it looks so pretty but different on everyone. I love this shade for a more everyday color but on a lot of people, it looks like a muted dark rose color, which is perfect for the fall/winter months.

Bite Beauty is a brand that I never tried because I thought it was just another lipstick brand. I’m so glad that I decided to be a shopaholic and try the brand. I purchased the matte lip crayon and it was one of the best decisions I have made! The Matte Lip crayon is not completely matte but the formula is amazing. It is also so easy to apply because it is in a crayon form. The two shades that I love are Truffle and Aubergine!

Last year, when I wrote a similar post, I talked about a shade Kat Von D Vampira which was one of the most underrated lip colors from their line. I recently was able to try the shade in Damned, and I am so surprised that people do not talk about this shade! It is so pretty and dark and it doesn’t have a streaky application. I really like this shade and I highly recommend it!

These are just a couple of my picks for some Fall/Winter Lip Color options! I hope you enjoyed the post and check out the post from last year for more shades!

I was able to try some of the shades mentioned above because of the Sephora Favorites kit: Give me Some bold Lip! I really recommend this kit, because you get to try out a variety of colors and formulas and it is a great deal! I have linked it here and down below!

Loose Powder vs. Pressed Powder

Houston in the summer is like a desert during the middle of the day; hot. It is really hot and when its hot, people naturally sweat. For people that wear makeup, you know that when you sweat with makeup on you get shiny. Now that’s not the only reason people get shiny, but it is a very common reason. The best way to take care of your shiny face is powder. Powder comes in many forms and shades, which can get really confusing sometimes, so today I’m talking about the best type of powder for you based on skin type and other issues.

Loose Powder vs. Pressed Powder

I love posting beauty tips and tricks like this graphic on Pinterest! Click here to check it out and follow for more tips!

As I have mentioned in so many posts… I have normal to combination skin. Which means my t-zone gets oily. A method that has really been helping my skin not get oily as easily, is baking. The technique of baking, which I talked about in my Baking vs. Strobing post, is where you use an excess of loose powder to set the makeup in the creases and pores in your skin.

Loose Powder vs. Pressed Powder

Loose powder is better for oily to combination skin types because it gives you more of a matte finish and it has a lighter feel on the skin. Because oily to combination skin types normally have to reapply powder throughout the day, loose powder won’t end up looking cakey. You can add as many layers of loose powder as you need without looking overdone or cakey.

My favorite loose powder is the RCMA No Color Powder which I purchased from Beautylish. If you would like to purchase any of the products I have mentioned in my post, check down below! I also really like the Laura Mercier Powder, but I will say that I like my RCMA more than Laura Mercier. The cult favorite: Makeup Forever HD Powder is amazing but leaves a HORRIBLE flashback! They just recently came out with the same powder in Pressed format! Perfect for people with dry skin! There are so many other powders that I could talk about but these are definitely some of the top picks!

I’ve talked about the RCMA Powder on my Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook a lot and I’ll be posting updates of when it is back in stock on Beautylish! Follow me to get updates and more information on products!

As I mentioned in my post about the Best Drugstore Makeup and my Everyday Makeup Essentials, one of my favorite pressed powders is from Rimmel London.

I use pressed powder on the rest of my face and under my eyes on days that I am wearing really light makeup or I just need a touch up on my face with no makeup on. The pressed form is better for people that have dry skin because it doesn’t cling to dry spots. Loose Powder can become flaky for a person who has dry skin and pressed powder is pressed into the skin so it can’t get flaky. Oil is what makes pressed powder into a pressed format, so adding more oil onto oily skin isn’t the best option for controlling the shine levels on your face.

Loose Powder vs. Pressed Powder

My favorite brushes of all time are Real Techniques Brushes! They’re quality is amazing for the price and they are affordable and available at Ulta. Also, if you want to purchase any of them check down below for the links! I have talked about my favorite Real Techniques Brushes in a recent post so click below to read that.

My favorite to use for loose powder is the Setting brush. It is the perfect size for under the eye and it is not too dense but not too light either! My favorite to use for pressed powder is the Powder Brush. It is huge which is great because it takes less time to cover the whole face. I also mentioned in my Facial Sprays post that if you add a little bit too much powder, just spray some facial spray and use a damp sponge to press the powder into the skin. The sponge will absorb the excess powder and also help push the powder into the skin!

Best Facial Sprays

Everyone has specific issues that they focus on when it comes to skincare. It can be dry skin, oily skin, breakouts and so much more. I have said so many times on my blog that the condition of your skin DIRECTLY effects how your makeup sits on your skin. That doesn’t mean that if you have breakouts or acne, your makeup is going to look bad. But if you have dry patches or a lot of oil on some spots of your face, your makeup isn’t going to sit correctly on your skin! This is where facial sprays come in! Facial sprays are my favorite and easiest way to fix a problem area. So today I’m sharing my favorite and in my opinion Best Facial Sprays!

Best Facial Sprays

I have a post coming soon about what skincare items I use for my combination skin, so if you want to be notified about that, subscribe to the blog!

Best Facial Sprays

I post a lot of graphics like the one above about the Best Facial Sprays on Pinterest! Follow me to find all of the blog pictures in one place and more pins about beauty secrets!

Even though I have combination skin, I still have some dry spots on my face. I think skin types are the weirdest classifications because even though I have combination oily skin, I have dry patches on my face. Everyone’s skin type can differ even if you have the same type of classification, which is why I highly recommend figuring out what is going on with your skin before you start using products according to your classification. So because I have dry spots on my face, I like to use hydrating facial sprays. It really allows my skin to soak up the hydrating ingredients without making my t-zone act up and become too oily!

I have two favorites sprays for hydrating my skin; Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater and the Pixi by Petra Glow Mist. Both of these facial sprays have ingredients that are known for their moisturizing properties.

Best Facial Sprays

The Mario Badescu Facial spray is my favorite all time facial spray. It is hands down the Best Facial Spray that I have tried. Rosewater is amazing for moisturizing and hydrating the skin. It also has amazing properties to help reduce the appearance of large pores, and can be used as a toner to naturally even out skin tones. Rosewater is also great for breakout and keeping the skin clear because of the anti-bacterial properties of rose. An added bonus with this facial spray? The rose scent leaves you feeling really relaxed and calm, which is perfect for the mornings! I talked about this product a lot on Instagram and Twitter and Facebook, so follow for more skincare tips and tricks!

Pixi Glow Mist Best Facial Sprays

The Glow Mist by Pixi Beauty is great for adding a healthy glow to the skin. This is a really good facial spray for people with dry skin because the main ingredient in this facial spray is Argan Oil. Argan Oil is amazing for hydrating the skin and hair as well. This facial spray gives you a healthy glow that is similar to adding an oil to your base. And we know I love to glow if you read my post about Baking vs. Strobing. (Click here to read it)  Because I do have an oily t-zone, I tend to only spray this on my cheeks and or dry spots.

I’ve mentioned this at least 100 times already, but I have an oily t-zone. So in order for me to control my oily t-zone, I like to use the Urban Decay Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray. Because this is a makeup setting spray, I use this particular spray after I have put on all of my makeup. I also really like this spray because Urban Decay makes a travel size option and I need all the space I can get when I’m travelling (like I mentioned in my Travelling with Makeup post, click here to read).

Urban Decay Best Facial Sprays

I also really like to push the product into my skin. i feel like I really intensify the oil-control substance by using my damp sponge and pressing it into the skin. I use the Real Techniques Makeup Complexion Sponge, which I have raved about in my Best Real Techniques Brushes post and my Best Drugstore Makeup post. Click below to read them.

We all have those days where our skin feels bleh. Numerous things can cause our skin to feel not so great. My face gets sunburned real easily, so that causes my skin to get really red and dry. You could have a couple of breakouts or under the skin pimples that are just not helping your skin look the best. When I have those days, I really like to use a facial spray that will soothe my skin.

This facial spray can be used for so many things because of the amazing ingredients in it. I love using this spray to help with soothing my skin as well as adding extra hydration. I also LOVE using this spray to intensify my shadows or highlight. I just spray a little bit on-to by brush and apply some eye shadow. It can instantly change the pigmentation of an eye shadow! And because this facial spray is made up of Minerals and Vitamins, Aloe Vera, and Green Tea, I don’t feel weird putting or mixing it with my shadows.

The other facial sprays that I mentioned can be used for multiple problems. Such as the rose water facial spray by Mario Badescu is not only great for moisturizing, rose has amazing antibacterial properties which is great for soothing and cleansing. I will be talking about more skincare secrets soon, so make sure you’re subscribed to be notified about the post through email!
